You gotta love the drama that comes with the NFL trade deadline, folks. Today, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones dropped a bombshell on SiriusXM NFL radio – Dallas has already made a trade, and they might not be done yet. The big question on everyone’s mind is, who’s involved? Jones is keeping his cards close to his chest, but rumor has it that it’s a defensive player. No surprise there, considering the Cowboys’ D has been struggling in pretty much every area.
Jones did give us a tiny teaser, saying that the new addition will be on the field ASAP and will help address some of the team’s glaring weaknesses. But let’s be real, if Jerry had something major cooking, he probably wouldn’t have kept it under wraps. The fact that he’s being so tight-lipped has me thinking it might be a smaller move, but hey, you never know.
One thing’s for sure – the Cowboys could use a boost on all three levels of their defense. And Jones didn’t give us any more clues during his appearance on ESPN’s pregame show. When asked about the trade, he just smiled and said we’d have to wait until tomorrow for the details. He did drop a hint that there might be more moves coming, saying “there’s a good chance that we’ll have some things to talk about tomorrow.”
The real wild card here is tonight’s game. Depending on how that goes, the Cowboys might be more or less aggressive in their pursuit of more trades. Will they be buyers or sellers? We’ll just have to wait and see. One thing’s for sure – it’s gonna be a interesting 24 hours in Big D.
