Brock Purdy Nearing Return
The San Francisco 49ers may be getting a boost at quarterback this week.
Brock Purdy is set to practice and could play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said the team will know more by Wednesday.
For now, it’s a positive sign that Purdy is progressing.
Mac Jones Holding Down the Fort
Purdy has missed the last two games with a turf toe injury.
In his absence, backup QB Mac Jones has stepped in.
Jones is 2-0 as a starter.
That includes a 16-15 comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
However, he aggravated a knee sprain in that game.
His status moving forward is uncertain.
Jones’ Performance vs. Cardinals
Against Arizona, Jones leaned heavily on Christian McCaffrey and Ricky Pearsall.
He targeted the duo on 26 of his 41 attempts.
Jones finished 27 of 41 for 284 yards, a touchdown, and one interception.
A solid outing, but the 49ers are eager to get Purdy back.
New Weapon for Purdy
If Purdy does return, he’ll have another target.
Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson is back from a three-game suspension.
Robinson was suspended after a November 2024 DUI arrest.
Coach Shanahan welcomed him back, saying:
“I am pumped to get him back; I know it’s been a long three weeks for him.”
What’s Next for San Francisco?
The 49ers have options at quarterback, but also questions.
Will Purdy return and lead the offense?
Or will Jones continue to carry the team despite his knee injury?
Either way, it’s an important week for San Francisco.
Momentum is building, and the quarterback decision could shape the rest of the season.
