Raiders fans, it’s game week! This Sunday, our team is heading to Washington to take on the Commanders at 10:00 a.m. PT. You can catch the action on FOX, or tune in to KOMP 92.3FM or KRLV “Raider Nation Radio 920AM” if you’re in the Vegas area.
I’ve got to say, I’m hyped to see how our squad matches up against the Commanders. Head Coach Pete Carroll was talking to the press before Friday’s practice, and it sounds like the team is focused on their own game rather than worrying about who’s playing for the other side. With Jayden Daniels out, there was some speculation about who would be starting for Washington, but Coach Carroll made it clear that it doesn’t change their approach. “We’ve talked about both guys playing all week long, and we’ve looked at film of both guys all week long,” he said.
When asked about Marcus Mariota, who might be taking the reins for the Commanders, Coach Carroll said that Mariota’s playing style is similar to what we’ve seen before. “He’s a runner… he’s run all through his career,” Carroll noted. It’ll be interesting to see how the Raiders’ defense handles him.
One player who could give the Raiders some trouble is Deebo Samuel Sr. Coach Carroll had nothing but praise for the physical wide receiver, saying that he’s “more physical than most players at that position” and that the Raiders will need to be alert to make sure they don’t leave him unattended. Samuel’s a talented player who can make big plays, so it’ll be key for the Raiders to keep him under wraps.
Overall, it’s shaping up to be a tough game, but I’m feeling good about the Raiders’ chances. The Commanders have a winning mentality, but our team has been looking sharp in practice.
