Bad news for Titans fans – defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat is headed to injured reserve, which means he’ll be out for the next four games. Just earlier this week, it seemed like there was a chance he might suit up, but now he’s done until at least week seven when the Patriots come to town.
This is a huge blow, especially with Jonathan Taylor and the Colts’ potent rushing attack coming to town. Stopping them was always going to be a tough task, but without Sweat, it’s going to be a monumental challenge. The Titans’ defense is going to need to bring their A-game if they want to slow down Taylor – every single player is going to need to be on point.
It’s been a rough season so far for Sweat, who missed a big chunk of training camp after getting a tonsillectomy. He lost weight and fell behind in his conditioning, and now an ankle injury is going to keep him sidelined for a while. Not ideal.
To fill the gap, the Titans have called up Carlos Watkins from the practice squad, so we’ll see how he does tomorrow. Fingers crossed he can help plug the hole left by Sweat’s absence.
